((I don't like to pre plan these things, so you can have Lisa answer however you want )) Bren paled. The world seemed to swim before his eyes, as he swayed unsteadily. Like he had sustained a punch to the gut, he struggled to breathe. "These rich snobby people," his voice cracked. He took a moment, trying to calm down, but sweat dripped down his face. His eyes were round with some hidden fear. "Did you ever happen to swipe from the Kuligamex family?" Lisa frowned slightly for a moment as her brow furrowed in thought. "To be honest....I don't remember..." she said, turning to look at Bren. "Wait...." she paused, thinking hard. "Zephry might have mentioned something after we did one job....something about a family that I think might have started with K..." she glanced up at Bren, a little uneasy about his expression. "Why?"

He took a deep breath, staring at the ground for a moment. "Many surnames start with 'K'," he whispered. He glanced back up, staring into her eyes. Images from his distant past filtered into his mind.
A young girl with long brown hair pranced after him, a preteen boy who, like most brothers, took annoyance at his sister's presence. "Would you knock it off, Bria?" he turned, snarling at her. She wore a long dress, laced at the skirts. A light blue cape fell to her mid-calves, secured around her waist by a gem decorated sash.
She smiled. "Nah-uh. Momma said that I was not to leave your side. She says maybe that will keep you out of trouble."
Bren crossed his arms over his chest. His clothes, like hers, were made of a more expensive material, although he shed as many signs of affluence as he could in his wardrobe. "I curse the day I was born into the Kuligamex family," he said...
Bren sighed, again lowering his head. "You would think I was an ungrateful wretch if you knew," he finally replied.

Lisa looked at Bren for a moment, her bright green eyes studying him. She shook her head. "No....I wouldn't. I lived on the streets for a while, learning things about peoples' character, personality....I've seen a lot in my past years...trust me...I wouldn't think of you like that. Because you aren't like that..." she paused, and thought. "The Kuligamex family?....." she mused over the words. "We might have....I am not sure..." she blinked. "Was there a girl with something that looked like this?" she held out a piece of metal, like a clasp to a belt or something similar, with a medium cat's-eye green emerald set in it.

Bren gasped at the sight. His hand trembled as he gently fingered it. He recognized it as one of Bria's favorite belts. Again, he struggled to speak. "This girl...she wasn't hurt, was she?" He stared into Lisa's eyes, his face pale with desperation, his eyes frantically searching for an answer.

Lisa looked at the clasp, then up at Bren. "N-no....she wasn't hurt...at least, not when we left...we were chased off by another gang that warred with our group....we were the Novas, they were the Jenjurens..." (I have to go now, sorry...I'll be back on later, I hope)

Bren took a deep breath, his eyelids fluttering closed for a second. He exhaled slowly. So she still might be alive. He forced a smile across his face, trying to look cheerful and nonchalant about the whole ordeal. He again fingered the clasp. "Can I have this?" he asked, his eyes shining with barely restrained emotion. He shrugged. "It belonged to my sister..."
((Okay. Bye!))

Lisa nodded, and handed the clasp to Bren. "Of course...it would belong to you, since she isn't here..." her brow furrowed in thought, and she rubbed a whitish mark on her right forearm.

He took it, carefully placing it in his pocket. "Thanks." He continued walking, now in silence.

Lisa walked along automatically, wondering what had happened to Bren's sister. The silence continued for a bit, and then Lisa spoke. "I'm..sorry if anything happened to her....your sister, I mean...." She winced, and rubbed her arm where the mark was.

Bren nodded. "I know. I'd be more sorry if I heard that your gang hurt her though." He watched as she rubbed the white mark, wondering if there was any significance behind it.

Lisa nodded. "I wouldn't have let any harm come to her if us Novas had been the one that robbed the place..." she noticed Bren looking at the mark. She extended her arm so he could see it clearer. "Every gang has a symbol for their group.." she turned her arm. "You can't see it clearly in regular light...mainly only things like security and your basic law enforcement scanners..." she sighed. "If you get caught on another gang's territory, they mark you with your symbol by force...I hadn't gotten mine done yet....the Jenjurens attacked some of the newbies...me included...and injected all of us with the marking fluid...almost like the body designs the richer people and bounty hunters have..."

He clenched his jaws together. "If I could, I would teach these Jenjurens a lesson." He saw a sign pointing to the weapon store and turned the way it pointed. "I once thought it would be kinda cool to get involved in a gang," he confessed, "But I knew better than to try to get initiated. Most of them would have killed me on the spot, being the little rich boy I was."

Lisa automatically followed. "We welcomed just about anyone...some of us wandered in because we had no family, others were tired of spending every day on the streets at the mercy of passing people...the Novas was a great bunch.." she sighed, and smiled a little sadly. "If only...if only they were still around.."

Bren grinned. "Yeah, but can you imagine it?" he changed his voice to imitate more of a squeaky teenager, "Hey! You, gang over there! Are you a nice gang that will let me join you? No, well, can you tell me where to find one?" He shook his head. "I just don't see how that would have worked."
Again he paused, his eyebrows scrunching together as he reflected on their conversation. "You know, you're the second person to find out where I come from since I ran away from there."

Lisa laughed. "No...probably wouldn't work..." she smiled, and then sobered. "We tried to avoid violence...but we had some tough run-ins with opposing gangs...the Jenjurens were our main opponent...they warred with us...people got hurt..." her brow furrowed. "I remember the leader of the Jenjurens did not like me very much...he made up excuses to attack when I was around...me being the main target.." she rubbed the mark. "He did my mark personally...he knew I hadn't gotten mine yet..."
